New Code for trade mark attorneys

The Professional Standards Board for Patent and Trade Marks Attorneys (the PSB), which is the government body charged with regulating our profession, has recently undertaken a major review of its Code of Conduct for attorneys.  The new Code, which is to come into effect on 23 November 2013,  can be view here: http://www.comlaw.gov.au/Details/F2013L01822

The Code makes significant changes to the way in which patent attorneys and trade marks attorney can run their businesses, in particular the Act now allows for companies to practise as registered patent and/or trade mark attorneys.  The Code was also updated to clarify the behaviour and conduct expected of registered attorneys.

Trademarkings welcomes the introduction of the new Code and the new provisions making it clear to all patent and trade mark attorneys of the standard of behaviour required of them.
